Storing and Wearing Fragrances

Proper storage and application make your fragrance last longer – and smell the way it's meant to. Here's how to get the most from every bottle.

How to Store Fragrance

Store bottles in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight. Keep them in their original box when possible – temperature and light exposure are the biggest factors in how long a fragrance stays true.

If you have two bottles of the same scent, keep one sealed until you’ve finished the other.

Expert Tip: If stored correctly, your bottle can last up to two years.

Avoid the bathroom. Fluctuating temperature and humidity can affect scent quality faster than almost any other storage spot in your home.

Where to Apply Fragrance

Perfume reacts best on pulse points, where the body runs naturally warmer. This increases both the reaction time and intensity of the scent.

Spraying Distance Matters

Spray perfume about 20cm (roughly 8 inches) from your skin. This distance lets the fragrance become a fine mist and absorb naturally.

Spraying too close can prevent the perfume from drying properly, which affects how its notes release over time.

Don’t rub it in. Rubbing your wrists together after applying perfume bruises the fragrance’s delicate notes and strips away the top notes – changing how it smells from the moment you apply it.

Bonus tip: A light spray on your hair releases fragrance gradually throughout the day as your hair moves.

Make Your Fragrance Last

For many, a favorite fragrance is part of a daily ritual – practically an extension of personal style. Storing and wearing it correctly extends both the life of the bottle and the way it makes you feel every time you wear it.
